DESCRIPTION:Accessible Word and PowerPoint Documents for Your Teaching\nDate: Wednesday\, February 7th\, 2024 \nTime: 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. (AT) / 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (ET) / 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (PT) \nRegistration link \nWorkshop Description: \nAt YU & TFS\, we are committed to building inclusive communities. Ensuring that students can access and meaningfully engage with their learning materials is foundational to an inclusive learning environment. \nMany of our learning materials – whether assignment instructions\, slide decks\, or lecture and lesson notes – are created in Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint. In this workshop\, we will explore simple\, concrete strategies and tools to maximize the accessibility of documents and slide shows. We’ll review some of the common mistakes that contribute to inaccessible course materials\, and we’ll highlight simple solutions that you can apply right away to remove barriers and increase the accessible engagement with your teaching and learning materials. While we will focus on MS Word and MS PowerPoint primarily\, many of the strategies we’ll explore are transferable to other similar software\, such as Google docs. Whether you’re new to document accessibility or are hoping to brush up existing skills\, please join us.
